This is the first salad of the season and the first post on the blog too. With the increasing awareness about eating local, eating seasonal and being conscious about health…blah blah blah, sums up in more and more salad appearances on the table.
Though we both want to eat right, it’s not an easy job to stay away from the temptation from all those items in front of the eyes, so I would make it as a starter or probably you can say half meal.
There is nothing to dislike, it’s vibrant, sweet, sour and hot, and above all nutritious. I have added some dry fig and pumpkin seeds to get a crunchy nutty taste, and it sure didn’t disappoint.
- 1/2 cup cucumber, cubed
- 1/2 cup, water melon scooped
- 1/2 cup wild pear, sliced
- 1 green chilly, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
- 2-3 dry figs chopped
- 1/2 tbsp lime or lemon juice
- pinch of chat masala
- salt to taste
Recipe – Mix all the ingredients and give it a good stir….that’s it. Really..that’s it.
You can leave out the chilly or adjust it according to your spice requirement.
It is best served fresh.
