Pink Sugar Cookies for October

IMG_9305My cousins were visiting us after eons. They were excited and enthusiastic to explore around, and I was excited to catch up with them. We had a fun-filled time ..kinda our own world, wide range of activities, from tough bargaining in crawford, having chai at irani cafe to trek in sahyadris.Eating every possible street food, tasting all flavours of naturals ice cream..oops.  Well my next post will give the after effects…101NIKON6

I wanted to bake something elaborate for them.. but it so happened that I hardly cook. But I did make the quick melting moment cookies for them.  I had larger portion of that dough lying in my freezer and I decided to make these October cookies.

October is breast cancer awareness month, a campaign organised by major breast cancer charities, to raise awareness and fund.

Recipe –

Ingredients

  • 1 cup – All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar or powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup melted butter, non salted
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla essence
  • pink gel food colour

Method- Pre heat the oven at 180 °C  or 350 °F. Align the baking tray with a butter sheet or grease the tray with butter.

Mix all , except food color, ingredients together. Divide the dough in two parts and add a drop of food colour to one portion of the dough and need well untill you get the desired color. Be discrete in adding color as they are highly concentrated gels.

Roll the dough and cut in desired shapes. Let these shapes cool in the fridge for 10 minutes.

Take out the cookies from the fridge and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges of the cookies turn slightly golden in color.

These cookies can be stored at room temperature for a week in airtight containers.
